How are you supported?
We know that everyone learns in difference ways, so we use a range of learning and support options to enable you to learn in a style that suites you.
Working together in a training room with other co-workers enables information and experience to be shared.
We also provide one to one practical support from a more experienced co-worker.
There is online training along with workbooks and reading materials with a learning and development folder to keep it all together.
For those people who need extra support with English and Maths skills, we partner with local colleges to provide opportunities to develop those skills.
All of this is supported with regular conversations with your line manager, where you can discuss your learning and development objectives along with a clear job description and a performance framework called STEP4
In addition, you will be visited by our Induction and Training manager during your 6-month settling in period. They will check in to see how you are getting on and ensure that you have the help you need to learn about your role.

Skills To Empower People in Positive Performance & Progression
This informs you for the level of performance required for your role. It also enables you to progress your career by showing what skills you need to develop for future roles.
How can you develop for the future?
We pride ourselves in being able to develop our co-workers for higher or different roles within the Company.
So, once you have demonstrated excellent, consistent performance in your current role, you can have an initial conversation with your line manager about your future development and a plan can be put in place to support it.
You don’t have to wait to continue to develop your skills and knowledge either as we provide access to over 170 different e-learning courses which you will be able to look at as soon as we have provided you with your login details.
In addition and where appropriate, there will be the opportunity to be considered to complete a professional qualification.
What are the opportunities for Management Development?
Many of our managers have been appointed from within the Company and there will be more opportunities as we continue to expand our services.
All of our managers from shift leaders and above, attend our Management Development training programme so that they can learn to be the best in the Care Sector
When does the learning take place?
From day 1 you will either find yourself in the training room or being shown around your work location with a checklist of information to be covered.
We currently run over 150 learning events each year within our Management Development Programme and Internal Course Programme.
Some examples include: Record keeping and Confidentiality, Safeguarding, Interviewing and Feedback Skills, Managing People, Influencing and Conflict Management, Supervision & Appraisal, Performance Management and Investigations, Administration of Medication, Food Hygiene, Moving and Transferring, First Aid Appointee, Communication Skills (including Makaton), Infection Control & Fire Safety.
