Welcome to Karibu Place
Karibu Place was named by one of our co-workers (‘Karibu’ is Swahili for ‘Welcome’). The home is situated on the high street in Tadley and opened its doors in April 2018.
It boasts two fully self-contained flats (complete with own kitchen, lounge, bedroom and ensuite facilities) and four semi-self-contained flats (benefiting from their own lounge, bedroom and ensuite facilities with three of the four also having their own kitchenettes).
The semi-self-contained flats share a communal kitchen and dining room, and there is a large shared garden equipped with swings.
The layout promotes independence and person-centred care, affording people many of the benefits of a supported living service whilst maintaining the best parts of a residential home.
All the people we support have highly person-centred lifestyle and receive specialist support to cater for their complex needs.
The six young people who live in Karibu Place enjoy the community opportunities available for them in Tadley including the local library, shopping places, post office, hairdresser and coffee shop. There are also some lovely walks around the area.
People have many interests and like to visit Basingstoke town centre which is easily accessible by bus or car. Bowling, trampolining, horse riding, animal farm visits, cycling, eating out, drama and massage sessions are just some of the activities on their schedule.
